Allright, I know what everyone is thinking. Another child sleeping problem, but we've tried everything. We make sure he's fed, give him a warm bath and a warm bottle of milk. Leave him in his crib, but he just won't sleep until he gets cuddled and comforted. We're ok with letting him cry it out, but hte problem is he cries so loud that he starts coughing and often times he throws up because of that - so that's not an option. Anyone have any other ideas? He's 15 months old.

I have been there. My first child didn't sleep through the night until he was a year and a half. After that, every time we would put him in his crib, he would throw up. Sometimes eight times a night. Because he was our first, we had more time to devote to only him, so we would get him out of the crib, clean his room and him and put him back down, as many times as it would take. Eventually, he gave up and went to sleep. But, it was exhausting to say the least! After a few months, he learned to love his crib. I am a stay at home mom, so I don't know if this would work for you if you have a job to get up for in the morning. With my other children, when they had trouble sleeping, we just let them stay in our bed. But only do that if your a light sleeper and will wake when you child wakes up.

Decide whether or not you need him to sleep on his own right now.
If not, you will not hurt him by rocking, or whatever else you are doing, HE WILL GROW OUT OF IT!!!! I promise!!!
It took my daughter a few years (until almost 3), she would sleep just fine at Mother's Day Out, so I knew it was possible, but I came to see it as a time that I could spend with her (I work full time, and take night classes)
Now that she is past all that (which may I add, happened very suddenly) I miss it, the only time I get to rock her is when she is sick.

Add a book and couple of hugs and cuddles to routine and that way he feels the attention and may fall fast asleep while the book is being read. That is just the way he goes to sleep. My daughter was that way and out grew the cuddles and just drops off to sleep now.

WEAR HIM OUT! Some kids have to much energy to burn. Play with him have him run wild for a hour or two. He be real tried from all that he'll have no energy to fight sleep because he'll be to tried.

Lay him down on his stomach, and pat his back. This worked really well at the day care center I used to work at when we would lay kids down for naps. Try it and see if it works.
