Ideally, you wouldn't rely on "traps" but intellect, for starters.

"Trap." You should never feel like somebody has "trapped" you by what they say. I usually get the "So you think your better than me?" schtick. But the point you have to understand is you don't debate. That's the first sign of weakness, so to speak. Athiests & evolutionists will try anything and everything to tell you that "God" doesn't exist. They try theories that are concocted straight from the Bible. Why? Because even they cannot deny the 7 days, or stages of creation. And they cannot explain how *two inactive parts came together and created the "Big Bang." Now I mean the actual force behind it that moved the particle and matter together. And "Nothing" means "No Thing," as in there was no thing there. And keep this in mind "The heavens were created first, THEN the earth. So they would have to explain the universe first, which, they can't. Now even the "theory" of ape to man is questioned. How is it that an Ape, could concieve of a tunic? An Ape is hairy, so if he is used to seeing other creatures in his same state,("Fur") he's going to deem that it's natural. And as they were evolving, was there a "Planet of the Ape" stage? You know, mankeys living in a society? They show you the "Stages" of how they evolved. Yes? So, in that note, it would be deem plausible. And if there was a society, there would be records, or some primitive ruins of some sort?

Dear Intro, the situations that arise like that are endless are and there are many ways to refute or rebutt their arguments. Just do what Jesus did and get wisdom by growing in your relationship with the Father by studying the Word and prayer. He will help give you the right answers.

Keep this in mind though. Intellectual discussions and all these arguments only appeal to the mind. Worst part is you and your friend can rebutt and argue, trying to trap each other, until the cows come home and nothing will be resolved.
Like godsindigobutterfly said earlier, Jesus just asked them to examine their own perception of things, He didn't outright argue with them.

Ultimately, your job is to love them first. The relationship you have with them and the testimony you bear through your life will be far more important in the long run than winning any argument as the bible says that "Love conquers all." Now it ain't easy. I had friends who just wanted to put me down so they'd feel better about themselves. What I found was that these people are, in fact, terribly insecure about themselves and need someone else feeling insecure to feel secure. When you show you care for them, many find it difficult to want to put you down anymore. Rely on your Big Daddy. He'll take care of it all.

Why is it people are more appalled by your wanting to trap your "friends" than the fact they are trying to trap you? just an observation. However, the questions you raise with these "friends" would depend on the way they are trying to trap you. Continue studying your Bible and take Jesus example. At times his questions were designed to make people think. At other times they designed to shut the mouths of his opposers. This was not a trap. It only forced them to either acknowledge the truth or not answer at all.(see Mark 11:27-33)

If the words of Jesus are in your heart they will not be able to trap you. The next time they ask you a question to try and trap you, shut your eyes and ask the Lord for help to say the right thing to make them realize he is real.

You don't need to trap them at all. Just read the word and understand it. What you need will be given to you when you need it, just have faith that He will say what needs to be said.

The question you are talking about Jesus answering usually had to do with the people asking being mobbed if they say a certain thing. Study what the Lord has told you and rely on His words, it's not YOU who converts anyone, but Him. He does the work, you just have to say what He wants you to say. Be patient with difficult people, it's hard sometimes but pays off in the end.

Jesus didn't ask questions that were in a way to trap them. They made them think about their own faith and examine what they really believed. It wasn't in a mean way. If you are wanting to "trap them", that seems to be vindictive--not something Christ would have done. If your friends don't agree with your beliefs, let it go. If they ask you a question that you cannot answer, admit that you cannot answer it. If they are only doing it to try to poke holes in your faith, why play right into their hands? It's not worth it. Besides, I couldn't know what to ask them if I do not know their faith or what they are asking you.

I like to turn the tables and ask them questions. You'll find that Jesus did this often as well as quoting from the top source at the time. Make sure you know the Bible though because if you don't and you try to answer questions, you're going to look like a fool. Plus, the best way to know God is to spend time with him and what better way then reading his letter to you?

First you read the Bible,You study Gods Word. Then when your friends ask you a question, the Holy Ghost will quicken to you an answer. That is His job.To teach you the word, and to help you with the right answers when you are asked.
Never try to trap people,God frowns on it.Jesus said show love.<><

Well knowing Gods word helps.I don`t think we should argue over the Bible.Sometimes you will run into someone who wants to make you or what you believe look dumb .It`s not worth the time.If someone is trully wanting an answer and has a different view then that is fine.Listen to them and then you can voice your oppion.Thats how we learn. If someone is trying to make you look stupid then don`t bother.Count to ten and say a prayer to your father above and he`ll help you do the right thing.

Pray, read, and let God do the talking for you. You can win a battle and loss the war. People don't care what you know unless they know you care.
Read the beginning of 1 Corinthians. Paul said that he didn't come to the people with worldly words of widsom of man, just the word of God which was strong enough to save their souls.
