If you are using Windows 2000, then you don't have the 'msconfig' utility by default.

But you can do it in the registry:

Start->Run->type regedit and hit OK

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (then HKEY_CURRENT_USER)
Software
Microsoft
Windows
CurrentVersion
Run

and delete the QuickTime entry(ies) from the list at the right.

Open Quicktime or go to the Quicktime control panel applet.
Under 'Advanced' (depending on version), you'll see an option that says 'Tray Applet'. Uncheck it.

This doesn't work. Every time someone wants to disable a startup application somebody says 'MSConfig'. Fine, but that doesn't always work. Some applications, including Quicktime, reset the startup registry entry regardless of the MSConfig startup setting.

That won't work either. Besides, MSConfig can be taken from XP and installed on 2000.

I assume that it apears on your taskbar. Go to the preferances of QuickTime. You will find it either by right clicking the icon or by actually opening OuickTime.
Go to the advanced tab
Uncheck the option that says something about running in Taskbar.
If you find something about starting on Startup.. uncheck it too.

I did it last week but don;t remember the exact things that it said.

msconfig, startup, look for something that says quick or a reference to quicktime, uncheck it.

Remove it from the startup list. Go to start->run then type "msconfig"(without quotes) and then go to the startup tab.
