So I'm not religious but hey here's a heads up for ya!
This could be bunk, but, make some plans to form an army.
The dude that gave a sermon at my parent's church said that his aunt works for for the government, a secretary for somethin, and she is exposed to a lot of information we don't know about.
Apparently the United Nations is "sick and fed up" with religion, and they would like to "ban it internationally."
Just thought I'd letchya know.
Cuz, this apparently means the end of the world, or armageddon, to some religions.

whoa whoa of course I'm not saying who it was, partially, cuz I didn't pay attention to his name.
I'm just saying what I know...personally...I think it's a great idea.
I'm not ignorant, I'm saying EXACTLY what i heard.
So why not just comment on the TOPIC instead of ME.

Why would I say something that "I know is a lie?" I don't know much about government, how would I know?
Once again, I'm just telling you what I heard.

I'm sick of the ignorant people,
my dad is a preacher but what does that have to do with anything? It's not him who said that, or else it would be my aunt also.
Why would I say I'm not religious if I was? Wouldn't I be proud like the rest of the people?
I could care LESS if you think I personally am stupid, because you think I believe this will actually happen? I think it was a ploy to get people all jumpy and excited for the "end of the world" and I know it will never happen, I'm just saying, this is what I heard, and now I am telling you, so if it ever does happen, you won't be suprised.
Whatever.

Banning religion. Genius! So many problems would be solved, eh?

p.s. Jesus, people are ignorant huh? I hate when people don't answer the question, they just say "you're dumb" or something. Shut up.

It IS a step toward the end of the world. At the end all the religions but 2 join a single world religion, the 2 that don't join are either 1. protected by a peace treaty for a while. or 2. eventually hunted down and murdered for their faith.

The 2 that don't join? That would be christians and the jews. The 7 years that lead to armageddon is started by a peace treaty being signed with Israel, so for a time the jews are protected. How long is that time? 3.5 years. That's right, the peace treaty is broken in the middle of it, and all hell starts to break loose. When the 7 year treaty with Israel is signed, you will know what time it is, and you WILL choose a side in the end. The question is, which?

Sound pretty acurate to me. After all we are doing exactly that here in the good old USA. Why should we not thing the UN wouldn't follow suit? Since the United Nations is trying to rule the world anyway. They want let any member country pull out of their alliance without a hefty fine.

The question is why is the world headquarters for the UN here in the United States and why hasn't there ever been an American as their head?

I have know for many years that the UN was attempting to do that. Satan working thru them to achieve his goal.

I seriously doubt this. Even if it is true, I'm not really worried about it at all. I do not believe in this mumbo-jumbo about "the end times". Where many Christians get the idea is in the Book of Revelation, when I believe is misunderstood time and time again. I do not believe it was ever meant to be an accurate portrayal of the end of the world. I believe it is more of the internal spiritual battle that goes on in all of us. I doubt that the United Nations could make some worldwide decree that would ban all religion. That doesn't even make any logical sense if you sit and think about it. Besides, you cannot make someone not believe. Even if there was no church, temple, mosque, any place of worship. The believers would still be there and they would find some way to worship their respective gods or goddesses.

I really don't see how anyone could think that would cause the end of the world. If anything, religion causes more problems. Everyone has different standards and values, usually based on their religion. I don't think people should throw them out, just take into account that not everyone has the same religion as you do, and not everyone cares what your religion has to say. People mistakenly thinking it's alright to hold others to their own religion's standards and rules causes friction, intolerance, dislike, and sometimes hate. It isn't a nice situation.

I'm not sure how they could do that, since in some countries religious freedom is seen as a basic human right...and technically it would be against the law for the government to take away a basic human right. Plus it would start a lot of wars. I'm not religious either, but the info sounds a little far fetched to be serious.

Wouldn't doubt it...but I think the common consensus is that the government is going to try to "unify all religions", or something like that....There are so many signs that show the "end of the world" but I believe what Jesus said, which is that no one knows when it will happen.

Your parents' church's dude's aunt or her nephew is delusional. The UN supports freedom of religion, and most of its member states are steeped in the stuff. Plus, the increasing presence of Islam in Europe shows that even the non-religious are loathe to ban religion. There have been national movements to curb its prominence (e.g., France's ill-conceived banning of hijab in schools), but no attempts to ban it outright.

In the states, as much as many atheists wish to see it disappear, most of us (not all, as there is no official atheist position) are zealous defenders of freedom of religion. We realize that our freedom from religion is the same as theists freedom of religion, and consider suppression of religion to be unwise as well as immoral. Contrary to the belief of many American Christians, there is NO movement to purge religion from public view; the movement merely seeks to remove religion from the government and from government support. Considering the high religiosity of the USA (86 - 90%), the disproportionately high religiosity of its leaders (> 99%), its lack of a general anti-religion movement, and its veto power at the UN, it would be impossible for the UN to so much as pass a non-binding resolution saying mean things about religion.

FWIW, most believers in Armageddon look forward to it, and many non-believers (Christian and otherwise) are worried that some believers are trying to hasten it.

If you're going to lie then at least come up with something better then that. I hate how Christians ty to put there self in the good guy underdog versus corperate over head position. WHEN THEY ARE PART OF THE BIGGEST RELIGION ON EARTH.

The UN can't get anything to work right, everything they do is tainted with deep corruption, so I do not see any time soon there being a unified military force created just by them.. Also, since they can't fund a lemonade stand without the US, and the US does not want another military to potentially deal with, esp not one funded by us, don't go running off worrying about it.

Ya know, some people are foolish enough to think that will actually improve things. You'd think they would have learned something from the communist experiment.

And exactly what right does the United Nataions have to dictate to the US it's Constitution is not acceptable?
