A FAE is considerably more difficult than that. It requires a very precise ratio and dispersion pattern.
What you're describing is basically a large petrol bomb - Yes, it's going to go 'BOOM', but it will be actually less lethal than many other terrorist techniques.
Fortunately for us, the terrorists aren't anywhere near as good as our EOD and Intel guys and we kill them by the tens of thousands - The more dead terrorists, the happier I am.
And as someone here posted, let's NOT give them any more ideas than they need.

If you can mix syntax and gasoline to make a bomb than muffler`s have ball bearing`s.

There are more technical and deadly bombs these days... Also the fact of visibility.
Ball bearings work too.

military would be much more difficult seeing the protection, but yes. nobody cares though, Banning liquids on planes makes people feel safe even if they aren't.
