My friend from Pakistan abandoned Islam. He spent 8 years in Pakistan memorizing Koran, noting more in his education. Then he went to Egypt to study Physics. His reason given is the Koran tells a preson what to do and when to do it. According to him even when and how to go to the bathroom. This stifles creativity, creates a poor society, and favors the clerics as the "boss" over society. He thinks it time the Muslems do the same or remain poor while such people as Indians, Chinese, and the rest become prosperous. Telling people exactly what to do in the Koran is his reason.

I think your friend is confused or he does not know about Islam. Mankind will not learn a thing if Islam does not teach human to read ( Surah iqra' ). Muslim are not poor people. Most Muslims country have OIL and many Muslims are Millionaires and own big Biz. The only people who is poor is your friend. Poor in faith of Islam. Poor in Islamic religious knowledge. Poor in perception of Islam. Poor in understanding the meaning of the content in Alquran Nul Kareem. Poor in this world and also Poor in after life. I hope ALLAH s.w.t. provide him / her with taufiq and hidayat and remain as Muslim.

Your friend is not insane. You should not worry about him. There is nothing wrong with him for not wanting to be part of a death cult. I would persuade any person not be believe in the same religion as Yasser Arafat, Osama Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, and other terrorists. I think your friend made the right decision by leaving Islam. You probably wonder why your friend left Islam. I think he left because he actually took the time to read the Koran. How many Muslims have read the Koran? I am willing to bet that 75 percent of them have never read the entire Koran. Of course, most of them don't have a problem with Islam. They don't know anything about it. But, the clerics know everything about it. That's why the clerics such as Muqtada Al-Sadr of Iraq end up making all of the decisions. What purpose does Islam serve in a society if a cleric can't say that a woman should be stoned to death for committing adultery? Does Islam really mean anything if sharia law cannot be imposed? Islam is doomed because it was created by Muhammed, the prophet of doom.

First of all you have to correct your friend when he says "He thinks it time the Muslems do the same or remain poor while such people as Indians, Chinese, and the rest become prosperous" Muslims are 2nd largest population in India and they are in high positions and in china there are more muslims then many arab countries combined. I advice your friend to go to http://askmuslims.com and read a small article on "How Islamic inventors changed the world". Lastly Holy Quran is the word of God and if you friend what to talk to me give him my e-mail address and inshallah i will show him things which Holy Quran teachs which he probably never knew.

I am feeling really pity for your friend. Reading two pages of Physics in EGYPT(not Harvard or Stanford) doesn't make him Einstein or Newton(who was a devoted Christian).
Koran was not revealed to teach humankind science--it
was revealed to people who will submit to God's will and moral commandments and act accordingly. By the way, where in Koran did your ignorant friend found the "bathroom"

well clearly your friend left islam for an illogical reason. when you believe in something, or in other words when something is your faith you stick to it through all trials. if you are christian maybe you can direct him to that at least then he would find the one true religion. if you aren't christian then maybe you can tell him about the good things of the Quran
