I was told by the police that if they come across it they would call. I feel like I could drive around and do the same. Is there some way I can search to see if it is being sold? I don't want to drive around aimlessly. I just moved to a new state & starting over. I can't afford this-besides feeling violated. HELP!

The most important step has been taken. Once you completed a police report, the police department entered your vehicle into NCIC (national crime information center). This means that if a police officer in any other city, including canada runs the tag or the VIN (vehicle identification number) then that will show up on there screen as stolen. This will result in recovery of that vehicle for you by law enforcement. The second step is to make sure your insurance company knows. Most companies have a period of time that must elapse, and then the car will be considered permanently deprived and they will pay you the actual loss cost. This is important to you, because you will probally need that to buy a new vehicle to drive. The actual recovery rate of stolen vehicles is very poor, because of a large amount of chop shops in most cities that steel vehicles and strip them for parts. Hopefully, things will work out better for you.

The police enter vehicles that are stolen into a data base. The vehicle will probably not be sold all in one part. The vehicle identification number will result in a stolen vehicle. I heard a story about a man who had a mustang stolen in 1964. It was recovered last year. The police department notified him that the vehicle was abandoned and still showed him as the last owner.

quite it is the different in what i've got seen. Police do no longer supply up somebody just to be demanding, it is all achieved in the call of protection. you have in basic terms finished cleansing up the roadway after an twist of destiny, in keeping with hazard the place infants have been killed, and the twist of destiny handed off because of the fact of velocity, and additionally you notice somebody doing ninety 5 in a sixty 5. on the supply up he treats you like a 2d classification citizen, yet you do you job professionally mutually as he tells you he wasn't rushing, and he knows of a few state senator on a time-honored call foundation, and he will have your job. in case you do no longer choose the golf equipment to close at 2 am, replace the regulation, do no longer blame the officer who enforces the regulation. With some minor exceptions, and persons who are not do no longer frequently final long on the job, all officers are effectual, each and every so often too plenty so.

Most likely the car is either in parts ( alot of stolen cars are parted out , air bags, doors, radio and so on)

A few will be sold normally with a fake paperwork

But alot will be found in certain areas abondoned striped down some.

You could drive around the areas where cars are abondoned, ( will vary by area) But honestly if it is not found in first 30 days it will never be found ( small chance)
So you need to assume it gone and file with your insurance company.

As long as it hasn't been to long since, Like 2 weeks or something like that, I would go to the Chief of Detectives and ask Him for a List of Known "Chop-Shops" and their addresses and just casually ride by feigning lost and see if you spot your Car. Just remember; These are Criminals and in some cases,,,,,, not afraid to put a bullet in you or anyone else.
GOD BLESS/GOOD LUCK!!

well some cars have a gps or something so that the company you bought the car from can trace it if you get lost or it gets stolen. if its a newer car call and check, also just use your phone book to call around and ask if they have gotten a used (make and madel of your car) traded or sold to them if they have then go look to see if its yours

more than likely it is abandoned by now and will turn up or is in a closed garage and totally taken apart and the parts sold. (that's most likely)
