Cause after I used my debit card at Target, the reciept said "Good news Kristine! You are pre-approved for a Target Visa" and went on to say that if I was at least 18 and could prove my identity, that I was approved for a Target Visa.

This suprised me cause the last time I checked my credit it was pretty crappy, so I was wondering a) if they checked my credit with info from my debit card and b) do they often give out cards to people with low credit scores?

Anyone else had an experience with this??

The good news is you've got a decent chance at receiving a Target Red Card. The bad news is this receipt prints when anyone uses their debit card. I got the same thing you did, was given a Target Card with a $200 limit, which they raised to a higher limit after 45 days. A few weeks later I used my debit card and got ANOTHER "pre approved" receipt....off the same debit card I used the first time.

Target does that sometimes when a person uses a debit card or check.

If you don't qualify for the Visa they will probably give you the store card. (though there are people who have had baddies on their reports and had been approved for the Visa from the pre-approval register receipt offer)

If you take them up on the offer, just be sure that the cashier submits it as the specific pre-approval with the special code on the receipt and NOT as a regular application.

Target figures, if you have a credit card now, they will give you one of theirs, obviously you have a credit card now, and that's why they offered you one.
They have no Idea your credit history or anything else, that is why you would have to prove who you are and your age (over 18) to get a card.

They put this message on every card receipt.
Why you would want another card when you have at least one credit card now is beyond me. I have one and one only, because there is no point in having more.

That is probably just to try to get you to apply for one. I personally don't use a debit card there... I use cash most the time.. but I bet that is on alot. Just a scam to get you to apply.
