My wife arrives in LAX terminal 6 (gate 67), and leaves 50 minutes later from terminal 7 (gate 77) -- she'll have 3 young children with here and she'll be going to Australia.
1) Can the walk between these gates be done without passing through a TSA checkpoint?
Bonus question...
2) Is there any departure hall area that'll consume time?
Thank you

hahahahahahah Good luck! It's possible, not probable. Maybe she can get airport assistance because of the kids.

1. Yes. She can walk between gates without passing through TSA again.

2. It's a big airport. There are lot's of people. Sometimes the halls are crowded. Depends on what time of day and how many flights are coming/going at that time. Depends on if the kids need to use the restroom.

1. I beleive that Terminal 6 and 7 are connected behind the TSA checkpoint, but I do not remember for sure. As long as she is not re-checking any bags 50 minutes should be fine even if shey does have to go through security again. Of course this depends on when she is going, is it during a crowded time or a holiday period. With 3 kids I would say it it would be a good 20 minutes to get off the first plane and make your way to the second.

2. With 50 minutes there is not going to be much time to consume because since it is an international flight they will probably start boarding about 30 minutes before(assuming a 747 size aircraft).

Just hope that the first flight arrives on time, if you are on the same airline they should know you are connecting and would try to hold the plane or at least make sure you get there if there are delays.

this question made me laugh, but its okay cause if you never been to LAX it can be scary, as long as you do not go out of the restricted are, you do not have to go through tsa checkpoint, but you will not need to worry about conuming time, and if you do, in front of EVERY gate there is atleast 50 chairs there, but you shouldnt have to worry, cuz the plain will prob. be loading just as you arrive at the gate

LAX is not crowded as JFK or EWR or ORD but it depends on the flight departure time. Plan on extra time but no further TSA security is needed as long as it is a connecting flight. They have some vehicles and it is well worth it but even walking with three kids, you should not have a problem witht he moving sidewalks, etc.

at one time there was (I'm not sure now)
passengers tunnels connecting all the terminals
on the southside of Lax (Terminals 1 to 6)
I'm not sure if LAWA or TSA closeed off those tunnels
now if they are still open they its a easy walk from terminal 6
to Terminal 7
are you flying united all the way?
(sometimes they might provide an bus on airside of airport
for you
(check with United )

1. Yes

2. Consume time? With only 50 minutes to change planes? Yikes!
