**Note: I do have a full description of the vehicle and I know the license plate number.
These people whom I have never met looked at me and called me a b*tch in a wal mart parking lot and then proceeded to swoop around me at a high speed and then slow down in front of me. Then when we got on the highway they would slow down in front of me to force me to pass then "race" me while shouting obscenities out the window. When I stopped trying to pass they got into the other lane to continue with the behavior. As hard as I tried not to let them, they got behind me and followed me. They followed dangerously closely and flashed their lights so I could scarcely see where I was going. I dialed 911 and had police meet me but the offenders had already pulled on to a side street. At the time I said I didn't want to press charges because I was afraid of these people knowing my name, but now I may change my mind depending on what actions I can take against them.

I have reposted this question because none of the answers provided before were applicable.
I just want to know what could possibly happen to these people legally with no witnesses. I gave all of the information to the authorities but somehow I don't think they will do anything. While this vehicle never blatantly tried to force me off the road, they could have at any point and I almost did run off the road just because I was unable to see where I was going due to their flashing lights.

Next time pull over and let them go. In most cases they will not follow you to the curb. If they do drive off and find the nears public area;gas station, walmart parking lot or something similar. Most cowards like these guys will not want to be confrontional with other people around.

Most states allow you to sware a warrant out yourself when a crime occured against you but not in the presence of a police officer. Since a misdemeanor crime of reckless endangerment occured against you, it is my opinion that you could attempt to sware out a warrant for arrest of the driver. The police must take a report for you (call the police department that had jurisdiction and demand a report), then take the report and drivers info provided from the police before a judge or magistrate and ask for a warrant of arrest. The judge will listen to your statements, read the report and determine if there is enough probable cause to believe a crime was committed. If he or she believes there is sufficient probable cause then an arrest warrant will be issued and the police will be commanded to arrest that individual and bring them before the judge. That is how the system works in all 50 states.

Don't be afraid to press charges. If you don't, they'll keep on doing that. Is there another way you can go home? Or if they do it again on your way home - don't go home - First, call 911 again - tell them you are the same person, and that you want to drive and pull into the nearest police station or fire station with them following you. Hopefully, the police will see that car following you and take it from there.

I cry for you , that is not a good situation to be in. I don't know any legal action you could take, they sound like trash and should be treated as such. don't worry ,GOD will judge them in the end. What I would do in that particular situation is drive straight to a police station. This will get them off your *ss , and keep them from tracking you to your home. Life happens quickly ,somebody is praying for you when you make it out of those situations.Good luck!!!!!!!!!

Ideally you would need independent witnesses and law enforcement officials willing to prosecute and submit to a DA for consideration.
Typically, roads now have cameras, so that would constitute the evidence you need, getting the law to take the time to prosecute would be harder.
The crime would be 'assault'..which in legal terms is the "reasonable apprehension of fear".

Unfortunately, you have no real proof of a crime (though their behavior on a highway was a traffic violation), so you can take no legal action.
Why would you expect that you could take legal action, with no proof of any laws being broken? What if someone took you to court without evidence?

Listen.. I recommend you keep the details you have safe... wait a couple of days.. and you probably won't be bothered to go forward with this stuff... You always get prick ASSHOLE people in life and best to ignore and move on as there are too many other real problems in life.
If you still are pissed off in a few days, then reconsider your options.
p.s: I'm not trying to score points...

Give the plate info to someone you know at either an insurance agency or the DMV. See if you can get a name and address of the offender.
To avoid incriminating myself I will leave the rest up to you.

Any legal action available you should persue, because these thugs may well be doing it to someone else, and with their behavior, someone is going to get hurt.

Type up this exact description and go, in person, to your local police department and ask them and go to your local DMV and ask them.
