YES!!!! You can argue that it's the consumer's fault but the real problem IS in the food industry!!! If it's just the people- then why aren't Chinese people living in China obese? Because they can't get as obese as easily as you can here! Seriously- a meal at any restaurant- let's say Applebee's. It's HUGE!!!! You can never finish it without feeling as though your stomach will BURST! The portions are so huge and so is the price. If they can have half of that with half the price then maybe people wouldn't be as obese. And then there's the whole "supersize and save" motto. It's crazy! Yes people can choose to eat healthy and be fit EVERYWHERE but the reason that AMERICA is obese is in the food industry.

I think it the fault of the consumers mainly, however there are other factors that are involved with this. We live a more sedentary lifestyle than before. Most people work more to make ends meet because of the increasing inflation costs. This leaves less time for exercising, cooking and researching nutrition, especially when one has a family as well... Also, serving sizes have increased, so even if you order something healthy, it is usually 2-3 servings larger than recommended. People need to educate themselves and plan ahead . Healthy eating can be expensive, so not everyone will be able to eat as well as others. This is not to say that it can't be done. You just have to be creative. America is getting fatter and fatter and when I look at kids today, I am disgusted. Many schools don't even offer P.E anymore. What's the point of a good education and good job when you don't have good health along with it.

I think the biggest problem with obesity is not the food, it is the lack of exercise. People have become very sedentary. There is so much great entertainment: tv, computer, video games, etc., people just won't get up and move. If you exercise, what you eat won't matter so much. So, no I don't believe the food industry is responsible for obesity.

No, I believe the individual is responsible if it is food related obesity and not from a physical problem beyond their control.

No, the food industry isn't to blame. Everyone knows wrong from right even if you choose to do wrong. You know junk food is going to make you fat but continue to eat it. People need selfcontrol and parents shouldn't let their children eat junk food in the first place. If we don't buy the crap they won't have the money to produce it.

I think television is a big problem. Ever try to diet and watch TV. Every other commercial is about food. (At least it used to be, now it's about erectile dysfunction). LOL. Actually I think progress is responsible, People don't have to do anything for themselves anymore, and in turn they don't get any exercize.

No, I think that people are responsible for what they eat and they themselves are responsible for being obese.

yes and no. it is the food industry's fault that they advertise so much to children, but then again, we are in control of what we eat.
