Do you have a marriage certificate yet? I know when i got married i had to sign in my maiden name as i was still know as that name as it had'nt legally been changed .. We had to wait till we recieved the offical wedding certificate before i could go around changing my last name. But yes once you have that it is quite easy to do. I would still get in contact with the person and or place that married you and try and find out more weither you are legally married!
Good Luck!

In Kansas, the bride and groom do NOT sign the marriage license after the ceremony, only the officiant and the witness/es. You should have no problem changing your name, just follow the usual steps. 1. Take your marriage certificate and obtain a new driver's license with your new name. 2. Obtain a new Social Security card. After that, everything else should be easy to change!

If you didn't sign anything then it's not legal. In any state, even Las Vegas, and even if Elvis performs the services, you have to sign a legal document. The marriage license will have your maiden name anyway because you fill it out as who you are before you get married. After you get married all you need to do is contact the social security office and they will take care of your name change. From there you contact the DMV and any other form of ID or documents you need to change such as bank accounts, credit cards, etc.

Whenever you sign your marriage licence you sign your maiden name. That's generally the last time you do so if you wish to take your husbands name. You should receive a paper in the mail - a marriage certificate which you can use to photocopy and begin changing your name.
But you can start using his name now - you can change your name anytime to anything as long as it's not for illegal purposes.

You should have a marriage certificate that you signed. You will have to change your name with the Social Security Administration along with the DMV, your credit cards, bank accounts. Everything. But I know the SSA requires a copy of your marriage cert to change your name.
**If you don't change your name with the SSA, make sure you put your maiden name on your taxes when you file them next year.

All you have to do is change your name at the DMV. That's what I did. Marriage certificates always have the woman's maiden name on them.

To the best of my knowledge I think you are suppose to sign something after you get married. You, your husband and the person that married you.
I would go back over the paper work to make sure you are really and legally married.

Just go to court and do it. I had a friend that changed her entire name, just because she wanted too. They may just let you do it because you got married.
By the way, you dont have to do it legally. You can just start calling yourself by his last name if you want, there is no law against it.
