I had trouble during my son's 3rd year keeping him well. Most of his sickness (croup, sinus infections, coughing, tonsilitis) was steming from seasonal allergies. He and now my daughter, too, take Zyrtec from October through April. This past year we included Singulair. They have not been sick near as much, but the medicine is very expensive. But, it's probably the same cost as taking them both to the doctor every 3 or 4 weeks. At least they feel better!

I would go through your daughter's medical history with her doctor and try to find a pattern. Also, vitamins never hurt -- she may really need extra help if her sicknesses have included fever and vomiting. Good luck!

The recommendations above are fine. However please note the following:

In the winter the immune system of children goes down & it could be considered as acceptable however If she gets sick twice a month even in the summer, you should do a checkup on the immune system because some people are more prone to infections than others.

If that's the case you should consider giving immunization against the influenza virus every year to avoid this problem.

Remember Diet & sleep are very important :)

Lots of liquids, vitamin C and a balanced diet. In the winter time it's hard to fight all the germs going around. Especially if you attend church, or they go to preschool or babysitters. Make sure she's dressed for the weather, and that's about all you can do. I'm Mom to 3 and this winter has been tough on us too.

Children do get sick with colds alot but not the flu twice a month.Either you are mistaking the common cold for flu or there is something wrong with your daughter.
