I mean they know that the majority of guys dont like the "air Brushed" super skinny models we see on tv, so why do girls listen to what they see on the tv and want to be like them?

Because television, magazines, movies, etc. tell women (girls really) from a very young age that to be beautiful and desired, they should look a certain way. People pick on fat people. People pick on other people who have skin blemishes. Guys in bars hit on the skinny hot chics. There is a lot going on in society that tells men AND women what beauty is.
It takes a strong person to rise above this crap and to realize that you don't have to look just like a model to meet a wonderful guy (or woman).

I'm not worried about being an airbrushed skinny model, I'm a Voluptuous female with natural beauty but we women have always throughout history spent our lives trying to be the most beautiful woman on earth.
Unfortunately we often base our worth on our physical appearance, I know I'm really hard on myself.
Yes media plays a huge role in how girl's value themselves.
Fortunately I spent enough time around men who love my dangerous curves, to not have bought into the media hype.
But I will always be looking after my appearance, that's just me.

everyone cares about their own appearance to an extent but when girls do it just for a guy than i dont think that they're being true to themselves. I would never change for a guy i like me the way i am. As for the tv thing it's cuz they think it's what's in and they wanna be popular and fit that category of girls or something i guess

Girls want to look like that because they want to impress the guy and there friends. See if girls impress there friends they know that there friends want to be like them. the only thing bad about having friends wanting to be like friends is it gets over the top and the friend impressing gets to be a slut or total jerk! Trust me

Because they listen to pop culture that says your only value is your looks. Maybe also because men are too reticent to reassure them about their attractiveness, leaving women to dress and groom to impress other women rather than to appeal to men.

Girls dress for girls! Funny hah? Think about it, they have to have this and that because she looks so good in it or dress to the hilt to go out with other girls. It is about their friends not guys.
