Unfortunately it is easier (and mroe fun) to gain weight than it is to lose it. However, once you start losing weight you start to get into a routine. The longer you stay in this routine the easier it is to kieep it up. Once you lose the weight you want to lose, all you have to do is remember not to go back to your original eating habits. You can up your calorie intake for the day once you're down to your ideal weight. At the end of the day, weigh yourself. If you see that you have gained from what you have eaten, then you should eat less than that, or at least exercise more.
