Ok, I am soon to be military, atcually prior service going back in. Now I want to marry a girl who is Japanese, she is currently in America because she is going to a nursing college in Tennessee, but she is not a citizen. Now if we get married does she become a citizen? I will be in the military when we get married so what happens? Any insight at all would help!

From what happen to my friend(she was a Koren citizen who married into the Air Force)..she was pretty much given rights after thier marriage...she said it was not that big of a deal(that was a few years back though) I would check with Personal office on Base for more insight and proper ways to go about marrying this girl.

No that doesn't automatically make her a citizen she would still have to go through the same procedure everyone else does to become a citizen, my brothers wife had to jump through hoops, I'm glad I was born here.

The laws have changed. For me, marring my immigrant husband 7 years ago never made him legal. Although he is not Japanese.

marriage to a servicemember does not net her American Citizenship. she will still have to go through all of the regular rigamarole as anyone else. however.. if your job requires a Clearance, you could LOSE it if you don't go through your Chain of Command and take care of certain paperwork first.

Not automatically, but it will speed up the process. Just make sure that you can prove your relationship to make the process go easier.
