I homeschooled my children for 10 years. They are now going off to college. I miss the experience and am wondering if I could offer my services to others. Would it be legal to homeschool for other children in Wisconsin?

I would say that it legally looks like you can. Pulled this:

"Home-based private educational program" means a program of educational instruction provided to a child by the child's parent or guardian or by a person designated by the parent or guardian. An instructional program provided to more than one family unit does not constitute a home-based private educational program.

Now, if you were looking at homeschooling more than one family at a time, then you'd probably have to look at doing something different, either being a private school or a tutoring agency of some sort.

I would say it totally depends on the laws in your state. Some states require the parents direct involvement.
but, my advice to you (I mean, since you asked and all!)
is ENJOY this time. You have worked long and hard and you now deserve to spend some time on yourself.
Don't tell me you do not have a wish list somewhere or a closet full of projects you wanted to take on "some day, when the kids are grown."
I know better than that.
Also, have you considered sharing your wealth of information, experience, insight and helpfulness with new homeschooling families? Many different ways to do that.
Also, check in to volunteering your time as a tutor at your local library, rec. center, or Y. They could really use your help, plus, being a volunteer would allow you the freedom to do some things for yourself and help others at the same time.
Don't jump back in to a 24/7 committment so quickly.
Breathe!
Of course, that's just me! ;)

I think you can-as long as the parents fill out the paperwork.
But if I were you, I would like to stay out of possible trouble. I mean, if it goes well, it's fine. If something goes wrong(the parents not happy about something you do/ complaint from kids, etc), you may suffer from your pure good intention of offering help to others.
Tutoring can bring you so much more money! --if you want extra income. And your time won't be tied up so much.
Good luck and hope you have a fulfilling "career" that you can enjoy!

It is legal in Missouri to have other children in your homeschool as long as you do not charge for it. You will have to look on the HSLDA website and check the laws for your state.

You have to check out the legalities.

Anyone can tutor.

Calling one's self a teacher or school may require getting licenses and certification.

Tutors don't need that.

As long as the parents take care of all the paperwork, etc...I don't think they check that the parent or you is doing the actual instruction.

first off call the board of ed in your town, and see what is required. here in florida i know that you have to have certification which can cost almost a 1000 buck.
