I think that is very weird...Usually just the baby's father, and sometimes the mother are in the room to see the actual birth. No one Else in the family really needs to be in there except maybe a sister or someone like that. Never a father..That just seems a little weird to me...usually the immediate family waits in a waiting room, and then sees the baby later on....But then again maybe this would be ok..if the family were "close"??

I myself would not let my dad, or any male other than my husband (who was not medical staff) in the room when I gave birth. However, if he raised his step-daughter, and is as close to her as a biological father would be to his child, then I can see how she might want her dad in the room.

What about the people that film the birth? Jeff Foxworthy said "why do you want the birth of your child, now I've got great shots of the conception but the birth?".

A lot of women invite their families in the delivery room. This is very common. Birth is disgusting, but the most beautiful thing you can ever experience.

No, i wouldn't. I think it's way too weird (and exactly what purpose is it supposed to serve?). However, I know a woman who had both her parents in the delivery room with her watching it all.

He may not have been down where he could see everything! If he was standing by her shoulders looking down, he would just see the head and then the body emerge, but not her private parts.
It's something amazing to see - something many men years ago were not allowed to see so if she was comfortable with it and they had set rules, then it was okay.

There is nothing gross or embarassing about childbirth. It's beautiful and natural. It's also very personal. If his step-daughter felt comfortable having him there, then what's the problem?

No I personally wouldn't let my dad watch that, I'm kind of apprehensive about my husband being in there, haha. But its not weird that he would be in there because that was her choice.

giving birth is not like seeing someone having sex or lying in a sexual position. it's the most beautiful thing in the world and a normal person isn't aroused by that. in the same sense, everyone has their own opinions.
