You never should let a cat outside. Cats that go outside get hit by cars, get attacked/killed by other animals, get diseases and parasites, get poisoned by cruel people etc. Regardless of that, never let an unfixed cat outside either.

The best way to train him not to jump on things is to have a couple of places in the house that you will allow him to jump up. Then, when he jumps onto something he's not allowed on you need to pick him up and carry him to the place he is allowed to be on. You have to be really consistant and it's a lot of work for a few days, but he should learn to only jump on the places you allow. If you push him away and say no he's most likely just learning that he can't do that when you are around. I've had good luck with this method. My cats are great about not jumping on tables and couches. If this fails there is a spray you can buy at pet stores. It's a scent based spray that you put on the furniture. You can't smell it but the cat can and will stay away. Don't get the bitter apple spray which is taste based. You need one based on smell.
I don't know about the going outside. I keep mine inside all the time because I can't stand to worry about him being out and getting hit by a car or attacked by an animal.

Get lots of toys and a scratching post to keep the kitty happy and it would cut down on the jumping. But I would never allow the kitten roam free for that would be a death sentence.
Too many dangers outside and your cat will live healthier and longer if kept inside.

You can let him out only for short/supervised intervals throughout the day if you must. But there's a risk in that because if he goes out once he may want to keep going out. So your best bet is to not let him out at all. If your worried about him getting his exercise then buy him some of those cat toys and playground things for kitties. That will stimulate his mind and give him a work out.

Kittens will be kittens...that's what they do - they jump all over! I advise against letting him go outside PERIOD. It is very dangerous for cats to be outside, and even worse for kittens to be out there. Cats are difficult to train, but you can try using a water bottle to squirt him when he does something you don't want him to. Or you can try placing double sided tape or aluminum foil on the spots you don't want him to jump on. Cats hate the way they feel on their tootsies.

Good luck!!

I have 3 cats. They were all strays or lost cats at one time. Please don't let your cat roam outside. There are already too many stray or lost cats in the world. The shelters are full of them, people's houses are full of them (like mine - and I currently feed a frightened orange cat that daily visits my porch) and I see dead cats lying on the sides of the road occasionally near my house. Keep your cat safe indoors. Teach it indoor manners and give it lots of toys to play with, a cat tree, a nice place to sleep and it will be happy.

If you really want him to go outside, build him an enclosure to keep him safe. Of course you won't be able to leave him outside at night until he's bigger.

Go to the website below for enclosure ideas.

NEVER let a cat outside!!!

They can be attacked by animals, stolen, hit by a car, drown, eat something that makes them sick, be killed by a human, get lost, catch a disease, and so much more. It is DANGEROUS and wrong to let cats outside.

The cat shouls be at least 6 months old before letting it out and spayed and neutered to avoid running away or getting killed by older tomcats. By him a rug tower or something where he can excersize in his room to waste the extra energy meanwhile. Don't let him out, he's too small and helpless and will get lost. Have patience for a while.
