I understand exactly what you're going through. I dated two guys like that. Unfortunately, I let it mess me up so bad, that I didn't date anybody for years. I decided that all men just want sex and they're bad. Then a great guy came along and had a lot of patience with me. I slowly opened up and regained my faith in men. It was hard even though he was so nice. I had many nights where I cried alone about it and many times when we started getting intimate and I would freak out. I know it's hard. You will get a feeling in your gut about a guy being a good guy and then it's up to you to work on it. Hope it doesn't take as long as me. You know a song that really helped me out? "An Innocent Man" by Billy Joel. I listened to that over and over and it helped me to go for it again. You are on the right track though. Not all guys are the same. There are a ton of wonderful, caring, thoughtful, patient men out there. (Quite a few of them taking the time to answer your question and trying to help right now, actually) Thank you good guys. : )

Dating is a risk in itself. Especially if you're in it to find true love. I don't know what you're looking for specifically, but how will you ever find out if you're always scared to try? The saying is true about "something worth having is worth working for" or something like that but you get the picture. The only thing you really can do is give it a shot and keep working at it. It may hurt once or alot of times, but when you find that person that makes you smiles at the sound of their name then it'll be ALL worth it. take it from someone who knows.

You can wait until you are ready to do so. There is no pressure.
Now That’s Love

I know what love is like:
Truly loving someone is giving them the freedom to love you or not
Truly loving yourself is choosing to be someone who uses that freedom to love you
Yea, now that’s love

Give the guy you like a chance, but never have sex with them until you know them long enough first. You never know, he might the nice guy.

give this guy a chance to prove to you that not all guys are like your ex-boyfriend.
