I am the only guy in my grade (7th) that I know that keeps my mouth closed. It annoys the crap outta me when other people don't do the same. However, out of decency, I can't say anything to to them. Anyone else agree?

You're in 7th grade... this is about the last stage in your life when you can get away with telling people that they are pigs :) I admire your restraint and sense of propriety, but it might be a good time to start saying that the cafeteria doesn't serve 'see food' at least! Or enlist the help of some cute girls who can giggle at the oafish boys. Shoot.. even Stiffler cleaned up his act eventually.. there is always hope :)

This proves that manners is not universal. Just go into any restaurant and see how the people behave.

I worked as a waitress for many years and the things people do at the table would amaze you.

Chewing with the mouth open? yes, and also rinsing their mouth after the meal and spitting back into the water glass..
children carrying on like they were in their own home with the parents just sitting their in a coma?

Parents should take the time to train their children at home as well as in a restaurant..but a lot of parents don't know how to act in public either....we have a buffet and some kids just order off the menu (burger) but they get real upset when you remind them that their children can't eat off the parents plate because the parent order the full buffet...they are stealing food from the restaurants but this is a poor example for the children

Slobs. There's a guy at work who always gets the super jumbo sized burritos from Taco del Mar. I mean the thing is frickin huge. But anyway, when he eats, he stuffs the thing in his mouth and chews with his mouth open. He's like a frickin cave man. But that's not the point -- the point is that the way he was eating it kind of looked like he was... well, you know, I want to keep this G rated, but just imagine someone eating a humongous burrito, dripping wet with all kinds of sauces, stuffed in his mouth, and just chewing loudly with his mouth full. Yeah, we made fun of him, and from that day on, he still got the burritos, but chewed with his mouth closed and ate very quietly.

When I was in school, I used to get physically ill when I saw other kids eating like that. For a while, I would eat my lunch away from the crowd.

Just tell them politely to close their mouth when they eat. It's bad manners.

It's more decent for you to say something then it is for them to be eating like animals.

and good for you for having manners.

Haha so true. I gag when people do that. People chew with their mouth open cause that's the only way they know how to use their features. haha. humans have like no clever way of doing things.

Because they are slobs and their parents didn't teach them proper manners.

Tell them that it is disgusting and to close their damn mouth when they chew...they are the ones being rude...you don't have to be nice and pretend it dosn't bother you.

I agree

These people didn't learn mannerism like you did. maybe their parents didn't show them that it's rude to show everyone how you pre-digest food, maybe there just plain rude!

you can say all you want, but it's the figure of authority's (teacher, parent, etc) job to do that. you won't get very far.

(a) because they have sinus problems, or

(b) because they're slobs.
