The odds are actually better now than they were before. More and more men and women are waiting a lot longer to get married.

There is a claim that statistically a woman has a better chance of being kidnapped by terrorists than getting married after 35. I was 38,married a man 9 yrs younger. I beat the odds.

I think the odds are still very good. Look a few scenarios - you could marry a younger man who is interested in a more mature woman. You could marry someone around your age who also has been busy 'getting his stuff together' and is now ready to settle down. You could marry an older man who is looking for a hot younger woman.

The main difference I can see is that if you are looking for men your age or older, they are more likely to have had a previous marriage and/or kids.

I think there is a good chance. People now a days are waiting longer to get married. I definetly do not think someone should rush into getting married for the sake of being married. There is too much emphasis on marrige in this culutre and that is why our divorice rate is so high. As long as you find someone special then who cares if you get married or not. I am divoriced. I have been with someone else for 5 years and do not plan on getting married and our relationship is working out great.

The odds are one in a billion, so you better pack it in (JUST KIDDING!)

There is no set time or date, people get married at all ages. I have seen people married for the first time at 65, so you still have a long way to go. Keep looking and never give up!

Newsweek magazine ran this topic a twenty years ago. The answer was different for men than for women. The rate drops dramatically after 30.
Then there was a 20 % chance of a woman getting married after 30 and only 2.6% chance after 40.
Now this has been revisited in this new story and it is more optimistic.

It all depends in you.

Did you give up? Did you consider 35 to be the cut-off date?

Personally I think the odds of getting married are just based on how needy you really are. The more obsessed with marriage you are, the harder it will be to get someone to marry you simply because it's easier to scare them off.

My aunt was married at 45.
My great uncle was married at the age of 80.

Odds are great. Things aren't what they used to be. People are getting married at every age. I really believe that If you are thirty five or older and looking for marriage, you won't have a problem finding someone awesome!!!!!

My wife and I were both over 35 when we got married, first and only for both of us. Somewhere I read, but cannot prove, that once a white, never-been-married, woman reaches forty she is more likely to get murdered than married.

Lots of qualifiers there, but it is certainly not good news.
