We are avid Mountain lake and stream fisher people. But we would like to hear if anyone has had a real sighting of a Grizzly in the Northern Cascades , in or around the INDEX? We do not avoid those areas, we just like to be prepared. So any true sightings in the last few Months would be appreciated. --' Northern Pack'in guide service'

Grizzly bears do reside in Washington State but they are very scarce these days, and you're chances of coming into contact with one is pretty slim. However, you should always be prepared for dealing with bears when spending time in the mountains, because black and brown bears can be vicious also. If you'll be fishing, you'll be right there in bear country, so just pay attention and have some type of defense, such as bear spray or a legally carried firearm.
