I don't know why you would want to just exercise and your legs will be strong and skinny

Protein is always good for building muscle but you need to work out as well. To gain weight in your legs do max weight for low reps like 1 or 2 squats ... squats and leg thrust are what you need to work on well eating right. Make sure you have a spotter when you work out and preferably a girl who is as strong as you. Do your Leg workouts every other day and switch your routine every two-four weeks. Muscles like variety. Running up stairs, high knee leg lifts can also help.

To gain weight in your legs, lift weights. Do a weight lifting routine. Include squats, lunges, and deadlifts. Also eat an extra 500 calories a day or so.

If you have a problem of having too skinny legs like I have myself , I have found only one way to do it and that is simply by exercising them by bicycle, walking, running and squats and standing with weights. Do it and you will notice a difference almost overnight and just keep doing it.

Squats and lunges are good for building your legs. and you can use a barbell when doing squats and keep adding weight to the barbell- keep challenging yourself. And you can hold dumbbells when you do lunges. Make sure to go low when doing squats and lunges. If you don't go low you don't get the full benefit of the exercise.

You gain weight in your legs by using your legs musscle wise. Muscle weighs more then fat. So gaining muscle bulds your muscle strength.

gaining weight in your legs can only happen by building muscle mass......like a stair stepper....(people that need to LOSE weight in legs/thighs/buns should NOT use a stair stepper).
