Old fart talking:

I remember at the time that the musical sparked a short lived religious revival among the youth, who were more attracted by the music than actually learning anything about Christ. Yes, I'm talking about some of your parents.

Consider also, Andrew Lloyd Webber was also a very young man, at the time. He was still in college. His intent wasn't religious, just entertainment. Personally, I like Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

People tried to find something significant in his show, rather than looking where they need to be looking for answers. Unfortunately, the churches didn't have the answers they wanted, but that changed, as churches began adding rock bands and the like so that the youth would come and be entertained.

Judas had a lot of good points in that musical.

He was of course, speaking of those who were following Jesus at the time, not of those who would come after. Whether the thought holds true for his followers today depends on who you ask and which follower you are speaking of.

It's one of my faves.

No, because I don't think that such a general statement could possibly apply to all followers of Jesus. However, good song.

Depends how that's interpreted. If christians are too blind to speak of God's word because they are just thinking about their own salvaion, then yes, I would agree.

Nazareth, your famous son should have stayed a great unknown. Like his father carving wood, he'd have made good. Tables, chairs and oaken chests would have suited Jesus best. He'd have cause nobody harm, no one alarm

Jesus said that it would have been better for Judas if he had never been born.

That musical had a lot of wisdom and truth in it, a little too much for some I think.
