And what if you can't avoid running into them for logistics reasons

Don't linger. Cut them out of your life and don't look back. Lingering will only drag it out. It's like picking a scab.

Go out with your friends (and tell them you do not want to talk about him/her), make new friends, endulge yourself in your hobbies and interests. But just turn your back (mentally and emotionally) on the person. And don't let them drag you back in.

Take this from someone who has tried many ways and made many mistakes in "getting" over people, including a fiancee.

Here comes the nerd answer.Well women are blessed with a hormone called Oxytocin which makes a women feel a bond between a person it being a spouse,a child or whatever. So when they do lose someone they feel the lost much more longer and harder then men do. So as i am a man dont listen really listen to guys on this, because simple sex would probaby make men feel better and not you. So time is probably the only thing to help you or something that will occupy your mind.

First of all I m not going to tell you to start messing with someone else. But I will tell you that there is not a quick way time heals all. It depends how long you dated this person, but I will tell you get out the house and find things you like to do to keep your mind occupied. I know that it hurts because I've been through it but after you get over this person you will look back and say what the hell was I thinking thats only if they were a piece of **** lol!! TAKE ONE DAY AT A TIME!!

it all depends on how long you were with this person. there is a myth that for every year your with someone it takes the same amount of time to get over that person. Personally I believe that time will get you over that person. Relationships are very difficult, especially when there is so much time involved. try and be strong and little by little distance yourself and you'll be fine. before you know it your going to run into your true love

Here are some of the things I do when my girl stresses me (which also can help with "getting over" someone)...
*Focus on your priorities, like studying for school.
*Join a gym. Then you will look and feel great and most likely HE will try and get over you.
*Have some alone time either in the park or go shopping.
Love with the heart and not with the mind.

The quickest way to get over someone is keep busy and trying not to think of them. Try dating someone else

there isn't a quickest way to get over someone. even though i wish there was. time will heal it and you will move on. try not to do the stuff that you did with that person because it will bring back memories. just try to block them out. hang out with your friends and have fun to get your mind off them and sooner or later you will get over them

TIME.....that is all it takes. I know it's hard, but if you try to forget about it and keep on going, you could be hurting other people by using them as rebounds, not intentionally, but that's what your doing. You have to deal with your emotions, cause if not they will get to you someday, so you might as well deal with them now. It just takes time to deal with them, then you will feel ready again, and you know then you don't have to TRY to get over someone, it will just come naturally.

Stay away from him, and totally erase him from your mind. Getting into other relationship may turn out to be scapegoat only.

It's just a matter of mindsetting. Forgive and forget!

You need to stay away from them for as long as it takes, and if it hurts to think about them, than keep working on it.

And sex is not the solutions to everything!
