It's called the automatic altitude sensor. I don't believe the '04 fs speaks, but you can moniter the altitude manually.

Its part of the EGPWS - Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System the one that counts down like that is Series 7 but I dont know if you can do it on a computer game like Microsoft Flight Sim, you probably could if you get the newest version and the Professional Edition as well

Sounds like a Terrain Awareness and Warning System (TAWS). Honeywell makes the EGPWS (Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System) with combines the data from GPS and a Terrain Database to alert pilot of impending CFIT with audio annunciations.

this is something called radio altimeter ur altimeter will not give u ur dist from the gnd with the ghanges of the elev. of the gnd for example in egypt when u r flying over hurgada with many mountains it may appears to u that u r 6000ft on local qnh but actually u r 3000 ft above the gnd ... so and so......anyway u can turn em off from ur TCAS ;)

As said above, it's a GPWS. The signal from the RADAR altimeter, whether analog DC or digital info, is wired as an input into the GPWS, among many other signals that the system uses.

We always called it Bitching Bob. But the signal for it to speak came from the CARA system (Combined Altitude RADAR Altimeter).

I believe the system you describe is part of the 'Terrain Proximity' system. What you require is an Annunciator' system which essentially converts digital or analog signals to audio.

One company dealing in Annunciators is, http://www.annunciator.com/ You might approach them with your idea. If you're really lucky they may see it as a potential product.

There's two possibilities. One would be the GPWS as other posters has said. The other would be your co-pilot.

As for FS9,it does not come with default planes. HOWEVER,it does come with add-ons like FsPassengers and the PMDG line.

It is a digital voice that gets it's info from the radio altimeter.
