Depends souly on the choice of the person wanting to whiten. Both professional and commercial whitening works. The professional route will cost more up front but you will get faster and longer lasting results. They might also have some sort of unsatisfied customer policy which could allow for cheap or free follow-ups. The commercial route is cheap up front and won't work as fast as professional grade supplies, but are effective none the less. Although the commercial route may cost you more money in the long run.

My dentist sells the tubes for whitening, and that seems to be gentle. The ones sold in the pharmacy gave me pain, my teeth are too sensitive.

I've used Crest Whitestrips for over two years without problems. They work for me!

And my dentist said they are harmless (except to his pocketbook, since he is losing business to Crest).

Brush your teeth with baking soda. It tastes truly awful, but you see results fast.
