Any dog can be mean. It's all in how you raise it. Barking at people doesn't mean a dog is mean; it's warning you that hey, there's someone there. Most dogs will stop barking when the person talks to them.

The best way to be sure that a Pom (or any other dog) is "nice" is to get one that is over 3 years old.

Most dogs start "mean" stuff for the first time at any time up to age 3. A dog that hasn't been mean up to age 3 isn't likely to be mean EVER.

Besides that, you need to provide lots of exercise every day. Teach your pom to walk with you on a 4 ft leash. Spend a total of at least 90 minutes walking your dog every single day, no matter what.

Be sure to start off on the right foot with your new dog by enrolling in a training class. This class is as essential as the food bowl and bed you buy. Actually, it's a better investment, since it will last the life of the dog.

Have fun!

Pomeranians are no longer mean with the help of nature. besides the fact that if, I even have considered some nasty ones yet this replace into because of the fact the proprietors taken care of them like toddlers and did no longer socialize them good. i do no longer recommend them for families with little ones under the age of 8 years old. this is with the help of poms being so small and fragile. they might get injured rather besides the fact that if by risk. you do no longer point out how old your little ones are. yet while they're youthful i might recommend a medium length grownup dogs this is already shown sturdy with little ones. The temperament of the guy dogs is greater significant than breed. you will get a pom after the youngsters are older. I even have 2 stunning poms and that i pretty recommend them for grownup in elementary terms families or ones with older little ones. If socialized and skilled good they're candy, loving, playful, cuddly and great clever. They do have a tendency to %. a favourite guy or woman yet will love the excellent kinfolk additionally.

I've had two poms, a red male and a black female. Everyone says they're yappers and ankle biters....some are ....but it depends on how YOU raise them...just like kids. No one wants to be around an ill mannered kid or an ill mannered pet. If you get a puppy, insist on meeting the mother...her disposition will say alot about the pups. If you buy one...just remember to teach it manners and teaching does'nt have to mean spanking...i used to point my finger at them and say bad dog, then point to whatever it was that they did.

Any dog is mean if it's not trained, disciplined, and socialized. If properly raised, any dog can be calm, sweet, and friendly.
