Yes. However, if your blades aren't designed to handle ice (and most standard blender blades aren't), you'll end up dulling the blades, so you won't be chopping ice for very long.
If you want to crush ice on a regular basis, such as for smoothies, get a "smoothie maker" or a blender with a smoothie attachment. These have tougher, sharper blades to handle ice.

I have done this before in the past and the blender did not do a very good job crushing the ice. So, I bought an ice shredder, which works very well.

If you have a good enough blender you can, may try adding a little water, then pour it out after your ice is crushed, or chopped to bits, or you can just put it in a clean towel or a baggie and take a hammer to it.

yes you can crush ice with a blender...My blender has a ice crusher button..If your doesn't , use med speed and only put a few cubes in at a time..Hope this helps...Sherry N
