Try this. For 2 weeks, no matter what the weather, go out and walk in the morning as if the dog is with you. Morning walks CANNOT be shorter than 30 minutes, and that is really too short. A perfect morning walk is 90 minutes.

Then, walk (your pretend dog) in the afternoon. This walk can be as short as 20 minutes. Carry some poop with you for a real dog-owner feel.

Don't forget the evening walk! This walk should be an hour, but 30 minutes is the absolute minimum.

If you miss one of these walks at all in two weeks, you don't have the commitment and resonsibility to own a dog in a condo. Don't feel bad -- there are lots of people who can't have dogs right now.

It's not the house so much as how much exercise you can give the dog. Do you have time for at least one, preferably two walks per day? And by walk I mean 30 minutes, not 5. If you can give him enough exercise then a small dog in a condo should not be a problem.

Does your Mom live in the condo? If so, she doesn't want a dog in there. End of story. Respect your Mom. However, if she is still trying to Mom you from afar, and you are an adult and employed and on your own, do what you want to do. This may be an opportunity to move out on your own. That is the key to doing what you want to do.

If your mom says it's too small, then it is. Sorry, but it sounds like she feels it's too small. As long as she thinks that, you're going to be over ruled.

IMO, it doesn't take much room for a little dog like a pom or pug. But that's me, not her. Everybody's idea of space is different.

If you want to convince her otherwise, you'll have to think of ways to change her mind. Do you have any friends with well behaved little dogs who could come to visit and bring their dog along? Maybe she'd warm up to the idea if she met a little dog that she liked. Good luck.

Possible. Maybe it's just your mother's way of saying she doesn't want a dog around the house. Wait until you live out on your own, to get a dog.

I live in a condo and I have dogs, and many other people
here also have dogs.

No, it's not too small. It's mean of your mother to lie to you. I bet she lies about other things, too.
