Why do the majority of vietnamese people have "Nguyen" for their last name?

Because most vietnamese last names are from the many dynasties Vietnam had lived through in the past. The Nguyen dynasty is the most powerful dynasty of all. In history, many vietnamese descendants changed their last names to Nguyen because some rulers had forced it upon them. Most families during this time changed their last names to Nguyen out of fear for these rulers.
