Yes Ivy, It is normal for your puppy to chew on most anything he can find. He is starting to get his teeth in, and just like a real baby his gums are sensitive and they hurt. Make sure he has a lot of his own chew toys laying around and be sure to keep all your good shoes, purses and anythng else that you don't want destroyed put up out of his reach.

Of course!!! All puppies chew and bite on things! Its completely normal. However, its good to reinforce that biting hands/feet/shoes ISNT good. Its normal, but not acceptable, and the dog should know that from a very early age. When your puppy starts biting somthing, simply take it away from her, or stop her in some way, and give her somthing that IS acceptable for her to bite. I did this with my older brother's chihuaua, and shes turning out great.

My 9 wk old puppy tries to bite and chew everything he can find. It is perfectly normal for pups to want to bite everything. The way we keep my lab from biting us is throwing his toy up and down then on the ground and hes prefctly happy chewing on it by himself.

pups do love to chew, don't forget that his teeth are still
coming in and chewing is good for that. Keep your shoes
and things you don't want chewed out of reach. Also your
dog should not be running around the house. Keep him in
one area only, not a small area but don't let him have the
whole house to roam in.

Oh yes. It's called mouthing it's one of the first basic instincts when born and if you had a liter of pups you would them do it to each other by 3 weeks old. This being said you want to start teaching your little baby now that it's unaccepted in the human social world. Just say NO BIT in a firm voice, when your puppy stops or licks say GOOD. If it becomes bad try a water spray bottle. Good Luck!

Squirt bottles will help with the human assaults lol. Keep one near you wherever the puppy is and when he tries to nip you squirt him and say no, then offer him another toy. Try a few different types of toys (plush, rubber, balls, ropes) and see what he likes. The key to training them not to chew on you is to distract them with something that looks more fun.

When you catch him chewing on something other that his chew toy, tell him "no bad boy!" in a VERY firm voice, hit him with the object (not hard, just to let him know that he was bad) Them walk a way and get him one of his chew toys.

Start to train your puppy by slowly moving your hands and
feet away. Then in a loud voice say no, then give your dog
a toy. When he bites it praise him.and then keep repeating
untill he gets it. Be particent it takes time.Remember to

i have doxie that doesn't discriminate on what he chews on,positive and negative re-enforcement of behavior is what experts advise, there is also a bottle of stuff than can be bought in the pet stores,i don't remember the name but it comes in small spray bottle with a green and yellow label and it is a green apple and bitters spray for chewers,it is sprayed on the item and left to dry with periodic reapplication,in severe chewers such as my dog you can spray straight on to the tongue, and they will run as its pretty nasty, they may even foam at the mouth a little but its nothing to be concerned about.there are other types of spray out there and i have tried them but the green apple and bitters seems most effective in curbing aggressive chewing

It's just his teeth, he's like a kid whose teeth are growing in and they hurt, don't worry, to stop him give him really hard chew toys, if he doesn't like those give him meat to chew on, or old shoes. Oh, and Bones, bones will probably work!
