What happened to the cocaine/money laundering charges leveled against Rick Hendricks a few years ago? Were they excused due to his lukemia?

In 1996 he was indicted in 13 counts of money laundering, conspiracy and mail fraud. The cocaine charge was just something that stuck in my head. Must have been thinking of John Daly's wife.

In 1997 MR Hendrick pleaded guilty to bribery and mail fraud , and was given a $250,000 fine along with a 12 month sentence (home confinement due to leukemia). In 2000 he got a full presidential pardon by Bill Clinton.

I don't recall those charges. I do know Mr. Hendricks was charged with misdealings in regards to his Honda dealerships. Something about payback money to ensure he got first dibs on cars coming into the country. I don't recall a whole lot of public information coming out about it after the fact, but I believe he had his day in court, was monetarily punished and did his little punitive time being banned from NASCAR tracks for a time. I'm quite sure his having to fight leukemia had nothing to do with it.

This is a new one on me. Do you have any sources to back this up??? There was an income tax question, but I know of no drug accusations.
