She'll let you know when she's had enough! You're right, she looks to you as she would her mother and handling her is a good thing if she wants it as it will help her to learn some of what her mother would have taught her. Just be mindful that she might experience seperation anxiety so if there are going to be times when you aren't there, you'll have to prepare her for that by having her spend time alone if she doesn't already.

Touching and playing with your kitten a lot won't harm her at all. Be sure to be gentle with her because she's so young and small. That's great if your kitten is bonding with you already and thinks you are her mother. My parents have a couple rescue cats and the one has always thought my dad was her mother. It's really sweet, she follows him everywhere and sleeps on his chest at night. I wouldn't have the 5 week old kitten sleeping with you in your bed though. Wait until she gets bigger so she doesn't accidentally get smothered.

Not if you're gentle.

I used to know someone who claimed that when she was little she mauled a kitten to death. She carried it around it so much it started to bleed through it's nose and died shortly after. I have no idea if it was true.

I know that I've told my niece to lay off the animals and let them be or they'll die. It's the only thing that works sometimes. I'll say anything for her to leave the cats alone when I can see they're being bothered.

If it is a new or very young kitten you really should limit your touching it.Not so much because it will think your the mommy but because the mommy may abandon the kitten because of it.At 6 weeks when it starts to eat by itself then you can pet it all you want...

Handling alot is the best thing to do. You wont kill a kitten by handling it but you do need to take it to the vet for an exam and vaccines.

Well yeah, it will become really dependant on you for everything, its bad because they will not have time to theirselves and be properly socialised.
