Do you use it for hunting or archery. How often do you change the string? I'm thinking of getting a bow by Ross. Where do you buy yours? Online? At Gander Mountain?

HOYT- you can not put a time frame on when to change your string because maint. use and storage all play a part in how long it will last. Always keep it waxed and inspected. Goto an archery dealer who has a range and shoot a couple differant bows from differant manufacturers then decide on which one you like. There are bow models that are short and then the same model will have a long one (XL) they are some times called.Brace height will help an unsteady hand for instance. You should try a bunch first.

Horton if I can afford it, then anything else that I can get my hands on.

Good maintenance and string care is the secret rather than string replacement by date. You replace it when it is worn.

Final bit of wisdom...
Your bow is like a wife, you wouldn't get a wife over the Internet, you need to fire a couple of shots to get the feel and balance of the bow. I only buy where the shop has a range, sure it might cost more but it is well worth it in the long run.

Buy the best bow the first time rather than compromise.

i like bowtech, and i dont change the string as often as i should. i know people that get the string just broken in and then change it out, so that they have a good shaped spare if something were to happen. i got mine from sportsmans warehouse. ross, makes a pretty decent bow.
