I forgot about the date and now I think I may have a bench warrant. What do I do?

Call the courthouse and tell them you missed your court date, they can reschedule you a new court date.

The best thing to do is go to court on MONDAY! as early as possible and get in to see the judge. Explain very respectfully that you missed your date and apologize to the court. If you have a good explanation the judge will usually cut you some slack. The sooner you do this the more lenient the judge will be. Do not make them come look for you or get arrested on a warrant. You go in and explain your mistake and ask for forgiveness. When you go, be dressed nicely, hair combed, well groomed and say yes sir, no sir (or ma'am) and I am so sorry for missing the date. I came as soon as I realized my mistake. This is what's called falling on the mercy of the court. DO NOT WAIT!!!!

Contact the court and try to get a new date.
If you have a warrant there may be a bond you can pay (that you would get back when you did show up).
Assuming this was criminal court; if it was civil court you may just have a judgement against you.

I think I would start with calling the court and seeing what can be done. Not a good thing to happen, but the sooner you get started in fixing it the better off you will be. Time is not your friend in this case.

call the court first thing tommorrow morning advise the clerk you believed you missed your date and ask what you can do - depending on the situations and how late you are they may tell you to come to court that same day or the following day and squeeze you into the docket - call first thing in the morning though - do not wait that will make it worse

Call the court. You may have to go to the police station, but you may not have to stay there.

Before the police show up at your door or pull you over and arrest you for missing your court date.I would get myself over to the courthouse and report to the clerk of the court A.S.A.P. and explain to them why you missed your court date.Hopefully they will sympathize with you and understand because you did show up and not wait to get arrested and get you into court that day.
