No. That is a myth, probably generated when people with arthritis would stay in bed because it hurt to move the affected joints. Because they were not physically active the joints got even stiffer due to the lack of movement. So rather than blame the fact they were inactive they blamed the bedframe.

The only way you would get iron from the bedframe would be to cut it up and boil it in tomato soup and drink the mixture. Even then, most bedframes are now made from aluminum and or steel, so it wouldn't work anyway. Same goes for the springs in the mattress.

Gave me a good chuckle though.

Hi there, my opinion is nope as my mum who has rheumatoid arthritis, asked the doc years ago. The doc said'That very few of us ,(men /women) that can obtain Iron. The doc could not give any other answer than that (like they do).But we can find it in Meat, (yes, i know it's cruel too! veggies rule) Plus you can buy vitamin tabs , health drinks, etc. with added iron (sometimes it tastes very strong )..Good luck Ihope this helps.. if you are still interested from the chemist (a few bob cheaper) you can buy herbal remedies such as 'Wild Yam & AppleCider Vinegar' they help the symptoms of arthiritis.
