Fruit chat .... Indian fruit salad .... sometimes with lime, chillies, and salt!!

Fruit Chaat
1 apple, 1 guava, 1 orange or sweetlime, 1/2 banana, 1/2 pomegranate, salt to taste, 1-2 tsp. chat masala, 1 tsp. lemon juice
Wash the fruits. Cut the apples, guava and banana in small cubes. Peel the orange/sweetlime. Cut the orange/sweetlime into two segments. Mix the apple, guava, banana, orange/sweetlime and pomegranate with the salt, chaat masala and the lime juice. Mix well and serve immediately.

Fruit Chaat

This is a refreshing summer salad with a twist. It will go well with any Indian barbeque meal. Serve it before, along or after the meal. It is a very versatile dish.

1 Apple - (red delicious) - Skinned and cubed into 1/2 inch cubes
1 Pear- Skinned and cubed into 1/2 inch cubes
2 Oranges - Remove skin from the segments and half each segment
3\4 cup fresh Pomegranate seeds
1 cup Green seedless grapes
1 cup Red seedless grapes
1 ripe Mango - Skinned and cubed into 1/2 inch cubes
2 Bananas - cut into round slices, approx 1 cm thick
1 tsp Salt
3 tbsp Sugar
2 tsp Chaat masala or to taste
Juice of 2 lemons and 2 oranges

Mix the two juices, salt, sugar, and chaat masala well in a large serving bowl. Add all the fruits one by one into the bowl. Mix well. Garnish with mint leaves and chill well before serving.

Fruit Chaat

1 Banana
1 Apple
1 Pear
2 Guavas
1 Peach
1 Tangerine or Orange
A handful of Grapes
1 Pomegranate (optional)
3 to 4 tbsp Sugar
A pinch of Salt
1 tsp Cumin Powder (Pisa Zeera)
¼ tsp Black Pepper Powder (Pisi Kaali Mirch)
A few drops of Lemon Juice or Orange Juice


In a large bowl, chop all fruit in small pieces. Add sugar, cumin powder, lemon or orange juice, salt, and black pepper powder. Mix well.

Tip: Any preferred fruits can be used. Although this chaat is ideally made with the following fruits.

6 oz. canned guavas, drained
6 oz. honey dew melon
4 oz. pears
4 oz apples
4 oz tangerines
1/4 tsp cumin seeds, crushed
pinch chili poder
pinch finely ground black pepper
2-3 tbsp sugar or sub
2 tablsp fresh orange juice
2 tsp lemon juice
fresh mint leaves, crushed or broken, as garnish

Cut up all fruits into small cubes or tiny segments so that the spices can
mingle into fruits easily. Mix all spices togther in a bowel, pour in sugar,
orange and lemon juices,stir and shake the mixture to blend them. Pour over
the fruit, mix gently, garnish with mint leavesand chill well before serving

Fruit Chaat Recipe
The most common fruits to make Chaat in India are: Guava, Apples, and Bananas. Occasionally, section of oranges and grapefruits may be added. Its up to you which fruits you may put in and how many different varieties. This is just my selection. We will prepare the fruits and prepare a dressing, then toss the fruits in the dressing.

Ingredients
Fruits
1. Apple: 1, peeled, cored, cubed ½"

2. Bananas: 2, sliced ¼" thick

3. Mango: 1, peeled, pitted, cubed ½"

4. Papaya: 1 cup, peeled, seeds discarded, cubed ½"
5. Orange: 1, use sections separated and halved

6. Seedless grapes: 1 Cup washed

7. Pomegranate seeds fresh: ¼ Cup

Dressing
1. Indian Kala Namak or Kosher salt: 1 teaspoon

2. Sugar: 2 Tablespoons

3. Chaat Masala: ½ Tablespoon

4. Black pepper coarse ground: ¼ teaspoon

5. Cayenne ground: ¼ teaspoon

6. Lime juice: 2 Tablespoons, preferably freshly squeezed

7. Orange juice: 2 Tablespoon, preferably freshly squeezed

8. Canola oil: 2 Tablespoons



Method
1. Put prepared fruits in a bowl.

2. Mix dressing ingredients together and whisk.

3. Pour dressing over fruits, and toss fruits to cover with dressing.


METHOD:5:-

1 cup red seedless grapes
1 big mango

3\4 level tsp. chili powder
2 tsp. chaat masala
