Play eye spy with them

Play farmer farmer - all of the children stand opposite the teacher and say "farmer farmer may I cross your river" and the teachers says "only if your name begins with the letter... " those children then walk across the river and stand on the other side you can also do with with what the child is wearing (only if you are wearing pink / stripes/ trainers/ your hair is up what ever you like)

don't know any abc songs except the abc song!

Art activity - get a sheet of paper and draw out a large letter that is the beginning of the child's name Z Zac A Alfie etc and then get them to either paint it all in or fill in with sticky bits

When my daughter was in pre-school the teachers had them find things at home that start with a particular letter. Each week they had to different letters. They brought them to school then to share with the other kids. The child with the most got a sticker with that letter on it. also go outside and have the kids point to things that start with various letters.
