I'm only 24 but he is such an amazing support to me, I don't know what I'll do when he's gone. I have a husband and lots of great friends, but I've never met anyone who understands me as well as him. No one else can pick me up when I'm down.

Is your dad sick? Most of us do not want to lose our parents. Most of us cherish our parents & losing them will be (or was) one of the most tragic things in our lives. You are not alone in feeling this way. My dad means the world to me & he is very sick, but I have come to terms with the fact that he won't always be there. Its part of life.
As far as getting over your fear, I don't know that you can.

Certain questions are hard to answer through email, but I ill try. Knowing that you are going to loose a close family member is not something anyone can prepare for. The answer I give you is the only one I have, so I hope you can apply it to you. If you are a believer in God and trust in him completely and pray to him about this. He will help you overcome your fear. Yes family and friends are important but God will being the ultimate comfort and peace to any situation. It is only natural for us to miss the person, and what that person has meant to us. It is and will be hard to deal with. But I tell you, God can and will help you through this, all you need to do is ask him.

You don't mention if your father is ill and in imminent danger of dying. Whether this is the case or whether he is in good health, I would advise your that there's little use in worrying about things over which you have no control. I'm sure that sounds trite, but you'll get much more enjoyment out of your relationship and out of the time you get to spend together. If you have to worry about losing him, do so constructively: make sure you'll never regret not having time for him. Good luck.
