Migraines are caused by vascular problems - bad circulation to parts of the brain. A popping sensation at the end would worry me. Best see your doctor and figure out what that is. It might be just a muscle releasing, but you should still rule out clots or something.
I only get the occasional ocular migraine, myself. I get a big growing blind spot in the center of my vision, with a distorted fringe, but no headaches. It comes on over the course of several minutes, then fades within like an hour, maybe half. No pops that I've noticed.

Migraines are the strangest thing, I get them weekly and they are only visual disturbances. No pain. I have only had pain with a migraine 3 time, the first time in 1973 lasted 24 hours, second in 1996 lasted 3 weeks and the late 2006 lasted 4 weeks. With a migraine anything can happen

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck.
Headaches can be caused by minor problems
like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more serious reasons
like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can
have harmful side effects, so it is better to
modify your lifestyle. More information available at

I used to get those migraines with my period, but when I started taking birth control pills, the migraines stopped completely. I did have that popping feeling, though. It was weird.

The muscles around your head may be in spasm during the headache, and when they let up, your skull bones are shifting position.
