This is a good question that has been asked on here a few times before. The old saying is that styles make fights and I believe that this is a great example of that. Foreman was at his best when fighting shorter fighters that came after him especially Joe Frazier who at that time seemed to be unbeatable and most thought that George would lose. George has tremendous strength and awesome power. Tyson's main asset is his power and fast hands of course but I don't believe it would help him against big George. And once big George got you in trouble, you were through! I believe that George would keep Mike at bay with his hard jabs the first couple of rounds. Mike would land some but George would tie him up using his powerful arms to smother his punches. In about round 5 George would connect with Iron Mike as he was coming in and like he did against Frazier would lift him off the canvas and on to his back. Mike would get up but George would send him down again with the referee tolling the fatal 10 count.

Remember the first Foreman-Frazier fight. This was viewed as a routine defence for Joe, and he was feared and was tough as nails, yet Foreman destroyed him. He made Joe his personal Basketball.
Tyson is very much a fighter in the Frazier mould. Tyson's chin was not that good, never really had a lot of heart, and he never fought any punchers like Foreman. Remember what Douglas did to him? Douglas was never considered a power puncher, yet he bashed Tyson up good in the 10th. Tyson was just a bully. If he couldn't get a guy out early, he'd become disheartened, which is what I beleive happened against Douglas. Tyson would be made for Foreman, just as Frazier was. Foreman would toy with him for two rounds, set him up, and knock Tyson out in the third of an exciting yet predictable contest.

I would say Mike Tyson. George is bigger but Tyson is faster both in terms of handspeed and footwork. Besides, Iron Mike knocked out a number of guys about 4 or 5 inches taller than him. Lewis would've suffered the same fate had he fought Tyson in his prime. Also, Tyson is the more fundamentally sound fighter. He threw his punches correctly, that is, short and crisp, and he unleashed them in rapid sustained combinations. On the other hand, George threw wild swinging punches that often left his head a wide open target and Tyson would surely capitalize on it. Tyson, likewise, has a decent defense consisting of his famous head movement, bobbing and weaving, whereas Foreman was exposed by Ali as an easy target of quick jabs and right leads. I think Foreman would go in four.

I asked this same question a while ago and im going to give you my answer. I think Foreman would've killed Tyson. Foreman was equally strong but way more strong mentally. Even the 44 year old Foreman could've beat a prime Tyson. He might've even did better than a young Foreman. The old Foreman was all right in the head and could've easily got into Tysons head. We all know now that Tyson wasn't strong mentally and Foreman could've exposed that. Look what Foreman did to Frazier. He knocked him down 6 times inside of 2 rounds. Foreman would've been able to KO Tyson.

Foreman---no doubt
no one ever beat Foreman while moving forward. look what he did to Frazier! Tyson was very, very good. Foreman was the hardest-hitting heavyweight champ ever---and not a bad boxer. Foreman came back to boxing after the Larry Holmes era specifically to fight Tyson---Holmes probably would have boxed circles around Foreman, but Tyson would have gone down early and often. Foreman wanted to fight Tyson---Tyson and his people wanted no part of it.---an ex-boxer, Brian

I would say Mike Tyson because Tyson was lightweight FAST and I think he probably could hit harder than George Foreman (Foreman hits hard).

Could go either way because both had so much power.
Likely I'd pick Tyson. He was faster, and Foreman was not great defensively. Prime vs. prime.

I think some people missed the PRIME part of the question...Mike tyson in his prime was one of the most mentally strong and FOCUSED fighters i have ever witnessed .he didnt show boat dance around and beg for the crowds attention. he just wanted to get in that ring and be the best there ever was and in his prime 18 19 20 yrs old before his trainer died ...in my mind he was...absolutely no dissrespect to foreman he also was one of the very best!!!that is what makes the question so good .
