You have to be 18. There may be some that will do it if you have your legal guardian - NOT just any adult that will go with you to sign papers and get the tattoo...They also have to physically go with you to sign the papers. I'm in CA....don't know of any tattoo studios that will do it even with parental consent. What would be so wrong about waiting until you're 18? I know that I've changed alot since I was 16 or 17...and my likes/dislikes have as well. I'm 29 and didn't know what I really wanted as a tattoo until I had my daughter last year...then the answer was obvious to me then. Not saying that you should necessarily wait until you're 28 to get a tattoo but really think about whether you're going to like the same thing that you do now that you will when you're 30, 40, 50 etc. You haven't even started life yet...so how will you know what permanent thing to get tattooed on yourself? God I feel old.

In the state of california you can not get a tattoo if under the age of 18. The only way you can is if you have a parent there to approve =]

Ok, if you want to get a tattoo really bad, and are underage, I always say to wait. If you cannot wait, talk to your parents, and let them understand taht you are mature enough to handle a responsibility like a tattoo. Tattoos are something that are forever, so do realize that you cannot change what you get, and should really think it over. They are also very pricy, and may cost up to a couple of thousand dollars depending on who is doing it, and how much work you're putting into it. In Nevada you need written consent, and proof of your guardians. Cali, I do not think you can get one without being 1 8

You must be 18 yrs old. It does not matter if you have a parent or gaurdian with you, if a tattoo artist tattoo's someone under 18 and they get caught they get charged with Statatory Rape (crazy huh!) and can never tattoo again. I learned this when my friend was getting her tattoo in LA and the tattoo guy was telling us how much trouble a tattoo artist can get in for tattooing someone under age, even WITH parent consent.

You have to be 16 with a parent. I got my first tattoo at 14, and they only checked my moms license. I of course lied and said I was 16, but they didn't even check.
