Generally, a doctor won't order a bone age x-ray unless you seem small for your age.

How 'bout an x-ray of your hand...
orthodontists take an x-ray of kids' hands to examine the bones to see just how much more growing they'll be doing so they can determine how much time they have to work with for moving that particular child's teeth. Pretty accurate for me, my bo & sis and even for all of MY children now too!
