Does anyone know how to paint floor tiles?

I want to buy 12" x 12" floor tiles and then decorate them and seal them and then put them down. Anyone know how to do this?

Do I sand the tiles? With what? How do I seal the tiles and with what?

You would have to glaze them and fire them to keep the decoration from being worn off - or you could paint then varnish, but the varnish will wear off eventually.
