I will take the pollution over the alternative of public transportation. Also if cars were banned we would be going as a society backwards to the middle ages. the consequences would be the return of diseases once thought eliminated. The life expectancy of a human life would go down about 25 yrs.. So unless you can build a non polluting car we must live with the car as is. We need to rethink our energy policies. 1st all taxes on autos need to be eliminated. 2nd those who use public transportation must pay the full cost without a gov't subsidy. Public transportation is not pratical unless it can come to my house at the instant i want to go someplace and take me home at the same instant i want ot go home. Also banning the car is like chopping off your head to eliminate your headache. We also need to arrest all the environmental terorists such as Al Gore.

No. If you were around in the 50's like I was, you would know that the air today is VASTLY cleaner. Back then, you couldn't see more than say, about a mile away, and on SOME days, about a quarter mile. It was RARE to see the mountains. The only time you could see them was after a rain storm.

Also, it hurt your lungs to breath. It was TERRIBLE! Today there are maybe ten times as many cars, and I see the mountains almost every day.

It is heavy industry that causes most of the air pollution on this planet, not the automobile. The automotive industry and the internal combustion engine have always been unfairly depicted as a major polluter, when it is the big factories and industrial plants that are really the big offenders, especially in emerging economic countries that have absolutely no laws against emissions.

Will cars ever be banned? I doubt it. There's no way to stop the pollution, we can just cut it back significantly. I mean, no matter what we drive there will always be something giving something off.

Eliminating cars are not the answer.Using public tranportation could help.Plus save on gas.A lot of people are old and cannot ride bikes or walk twenty miles to a store or doctor appointment. The need to keep their independence for as long as they can.I still need more proof that there is a global warming. It was talked about when I was in school.
