Every single one of them is addictive. Unfortunately most doctors only seem to have a vague notion of how addictive, and they tend to ignore the problem.
I was very much impressed by a study some years back that showed if you gave a patient a sleeping pill on 3 consecutive nights and withheld it on the forth, there was already evidence of withdrawal symptoms!
Also again not well appreciated by most doctors, the average patient on long term sleeping pills sleeps only 30 minutes more than they did originally before pills were started. If these facts were well published perhaps fewer doctors would prescribe them and as a result fewer patients would be hooked.

Do not take Seroquel for insomnia! I can not stress that enough. It is a horrible drug with horrible side effects. And it is for people who are psychotic. And it is so nasty that many psychotic people refuse to take it.
Ambien is an old, well proven, good sleeping pill. It works for nearly everyone. Lunesta is brand new. It has a short track record and is not as strong as Ambien. It is less addictive than Ambien. There are trade offs everywhere in life though.

I have taken Ambien 10mg and I really like it. I do find it hard not to take after a few weeks almost like I need it to fall asleep. After a few months I got used to it and 1 10mg pill just did not keep me asleep all throughout the night. Lunesta I found that is just did not help at all. It left a metalic taste in my mouth the next day too! I have also tried Rozeram.......not too good either . I think it just depends on what your body type is. Out of all of them I think Ambien is your best bet. I never felt tired or groggy in the morning.

All I can tell you is Ambien scares me my fiancee took it for awhile and sometimes he coul be over sweet and never remember in the morning and other times horribly mean to me and his son and not remember. Many people who have taken it report sleep eating, walking and even driving with this drug. My fiancee has since then at my request stopped taking it and uses unisom gelcaps because they dont have as many side effects definately no mood swings and the gels work faster for him then the tablets.

You can buy a CD for your nerves and a man will talk you to sleep.
It only lasts about an hour, I bought one called The Sabbatical Experience I used to use it and wakened up with my headphones on. From a really good sleep.
Good Luck
