I wouldn't be hurt to tell you the truth. I'd figure that they were just letting you rest and they didn't want to worry or excite you while you're still healing.
But, not to be a bummer, my friend Ant had to get his knee operated on and he got upset with me since I didn't visit him. I apologized sinceI didn't intend to make him upset. He figured that I didn't give a damn but really I did and that's why I didn't go bother him; he's a horrible person to wake up or be around when he wakes up. ^.^ But I never thought that he'd be upset also... Sorry but I'm not much help am I? lol. But he forgave me in the end and realized that I didn't visit because he'd just want to get out of the hospital even more and wouldn't rest.

Depending on the extent of the surgery, I'd have to say "No".
Most of the people who care about you will want to give you time to rest and recover before inquiring how you are.
When I had surgery two years ago (my first ever), I was angry at my friends and family for only being with me for five minutes after I woke up. Come to find out, they were there for about two hours! Damn medication! LOL

No. I would assume that they wanted me to get my rest and didn't want to call and wake me up.

No. I'd figure they wanted me to rest and get well.
