are there any great sites for finding missing relatives? I want to find my real mom, and by the state of Florida I am allowed to try and find her, but i can't afford to pay for it... and suggestions?

I have my reasons, and I want to find her... I always have... I was adopted at a late age (9) and I remember her from when I was younger... she fought to keep me, but because of her drug addiction, she lost the case... I really don't like my adoptive family, but thats a different subject. I am 19 years old, and I am ready to find her... I contacted my birth father and he is helping me get through college and finding more about my geneology (which is very interesting) and about my medical history. I want to find her, and I know its not going to be heartbreaking. I just don't have the money to do it. any suggestions? I know her name and roughly that she might still live in florida... but thats it.

Do you know where she went to school? Can you find any relatives of hers that might know where she is? Do you know what kind of jobs she held? You'll have to start working the phones trying to get info. If you have her name and the general area she grew up in, you can call everyone in the phone book with that last name looking for relatives. Be prepared though that if she was into drugs, her family might figure you to be looking for her because she owes you money or to do her harm. They also might figure you're doing some kind of scam to get money out of them. Be prepared to have to prove to them who you are. If she was/is into drugs, check with the local police departments, drug treatment centers, social service agencies, homeless shelters and fleabag hotels. You could also contact the lawyer or agency that handled your adoption for whatever information they have.

As a foster parent to my 8 yr old niece and 2 yr old nephew, I would like to tell you that even though you don't like your adoptive family very much I'm SURE they love you VERY much.I'm going to my best to make sure that mine know their parents as much as possible even though they are both in prison for life for what they done to the kids due as amatter of fact to drugs,as an adoptive parent you are entitled to know the birth parents if you chose to,try asking your foster pasrents,if nothing else if you could find out exactly which CPS removed you they could be able to tell you something helpful.I hope this somehow helps. If you need to talk you can email me lawaynebustillos@yahoo.com

Try googling her. Or another search engine. Go to the court house. Good luck.
